Lauren Geriak is a resident clinician at Weaver and Associates.  As a graduate from The George Washington University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program, Lauren holds dual certification as a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Nationally Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (NCC/NCCMHC) as recognized by the American Counseling Association.  Her field experience includes working in both private practice and in community mental health.  Lauren’s therapeutic interests include working with children, adolescents and families, and she has extensive training in trauma-focused modalities.  Her specialties include client-centered therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, trauma-focused integrative play therapy, play-based developmental assessment, Theraplay, sand therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, yoga and meditation strategies for self-regulation of symptoms, and expressive arts therapy.  Lauren is passionate about using her experience in expressive therapies and helping her clients access their own inner-strengths to address a wide variety of emotional challenges including anxiety, depression, attachment, trauma, and loss.   Lauren provides an integrative counseling approach to client sessions tailored to the specific needs of her individual clients.  She is committed to continuing education and professional development and is currently working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia as well as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT).   FULL CREDENTIALS
